Oh Tannenbaum

We put up our Christmas tree this weekend. Nothing beats the smell of a fresh tree in the house! Just out of curiosity...what do you guys prefer...a Star Tree-Topper, or an Angel? Rob prefers a Star...I prefer an Angel. Hmmm...decisions, decisions.

Rob's favorite ornament on the tree (thanks Jess)

Hudson's favorite ornament (his favorite color is orange)

My favorite ornament...a jewelled "so-Joyce" sandal (thanks Sue)

My second favorite ornament (the one I bought for $0.50 at a garage sale last summer)

Hudson watching TV, giving Bert and Ernie a break, instead holding his balls close instead.

Brad Pitt in Training

When he wins his first Oscar, he can thank me for starting him early.

When the cat's away...

The mouse will play.

Bosco climbed up and made himself comfortable on Hudson's chair after Hudson went to bed. Yes that would be the Backyardigans blanket under his butt.

For the record...Hudson doesn't even let ME on his chair...this would have been WAR had Hudson been awake to witness it. I'm curious what Hudson's reaction will be when he sees these pictures.

I'm betting he's not going to like it one bit.

5 Random's

1. We still haven't picked up the pile of leaves we raked together as a family a month ago (now the leaves are all frozen together...I cringe when I think of what the rotten grass underneath it must look like).

2. I have slowly started bringing out the Christmas decorations. Hudson loves all the ones I think are the tackiest. The ones that light up in bright colors and play obnoxious music. Gone are the days of elegant looking white lights and red bows...hello dancing snowmen and multicolored flickering lights.

3. We went to our library Storytime today, and Hudson was the only kid clinging to his mama's leg (in between clapping and acting out songs and stories). I must make it a point to force him to be around more kids his age. Ro(12yrs), Kuh(10yrs), and Ed(8yrs) are not supposed to be his best friends.

4. Bosco's nose is incredible. He went from lazily snoozing on his bed, to barking like a maniac at the backdoor like an attack dog in 0.5 seconds. When we went to investigate, there in our backyard was a little bunny (he smelled it despite the fact that all our windows and doors were shut tight). Although Bosco is not a pure bred Basset Hound, he "tracks" scents like a pro.

5. I need a haircut, dye job, some new shoes, to change the nail polish on my toes, to get more sleep and to floss my teeth. There just never seems to be any time for me anymore. I feel neglected.

Bye bye Hippie hair...

hello Mr. Conservative...

Once again...I think I like it better long, but he's so handsome this way too

And his hair isn't tickling his eyes anymore which was the main reason he needed a hair cut

Showing you his new hair cut

Side view...bye bye wisps

This time there wasn't one tear shed. There wasn't even a pout. He sat in the race car chair, pretending to drive fast like Daddy. He patiently waited for the hair dresser to snip away his hair. He let her even out the sides. He even bent his head down when she asked him to. It was night and day different from the last couple of times he got his hair cut.

It may have had something to do with the lollipop we told him was waiting for him at the end. I'm so happy he's finally old enough to understand the concept of bribery. Apparently it works.

Cake, cake, and more cake

Hudson was lucky enough to have cake three times for his birthday! He enjoyed every bite, every time. So did I.

But can you believe that our camera ran out of batteries after just 2 pictures?!? I always have the camera handy for dumb pictures of Bosco drooling on Hudson's lap, but don't have it ready for his second birthday pictures. Figures.

Here are the ones that we did manage to snap. Susan emailed me the others. Thanks for bailing me out, once again!

Party at his Nanny and Bob's

Celebrating with his cousins, Sarah and the newest addition to the family...Olivia (the sweetest, most melt-in-your-arms baby ever).

Hudson and Romy (his FAVORITE person ever)

What am I doing here, I have no idea, but considering there are almost no pictures of his party, I decided to post it anyway.

Balloons and cake (and his best friends "Ro, Ed, and Kuh" aka Romy, Edouard, and Victor) were all he really needed to make his day perfect

The remnants of yummy yummy cheesecake. Also...his cool Auntie Susan made that shirt for Hudson. I know he will ask to wear it every. single. day.

We ended the weekend by watching our community Santa Claus Parade tonight. This was the one last picture our camera let me take before it really died. It was really really cold, but Hudson patiently waved at all the decorated floats passing by us for over an hour...to see Santa for all of 10 seconds.

Why I love my sisters

8:00am: Try frosting cupcakes to look like Bert, Ernie, Elmo and Cookie Monster

8:05am: Start getting in bad mood

8:10am: Hudson guesses that my "Ernie" is "Bert"

8:15am: Rob tries to help me by making another Ernie...it equally sucks (sorry Rob)

8:20am: Realize I haven't fed Hudson or Bosco any breakfast because I'm trying to make dumb cupcakes

9:05am: Call my sister Susan at work and tell her I need her to bring a back-up cake for Hudson because my cupcakes are friggen ugly

She tells me she already had planned to bring one (actually I think she said two).

I tell her I didn't prepare any loot bags.

She informs me she has those ready for me too.

I tell her I love her before I hang up.

The inspiration for my attempt

"My" version (that looks like Hudson decorated his own birthday cupcakes)

What I did with the rest of the icing...they look a lot more edible, don't they?

Happy 2nd Birthday Hudson!

Updated with some pictures, which Blogger decided to put in reverse order...but you get the idea!

Good mama: Put up lots of orange and yellow streamers for Hudson's birthday decorations so he'd be surprised when he came downstairs this morning
Bad mama: Forgot to buy balloons

Good mama: Wanted to go out to the store at 9pm last night to buy some balloons
Bad mama: Didn't go...only because Hudson was coughing so badly that he was waking up every half hour, crying for his mama (so kinda makes me Good Mama too)

Good mama: Have a delicious looking Caramel Cheesecake in the fridge for Hudson's birthday cake
Bad mama: Have no idea if Hudson even really likes cheesecake, but this Mama sure does, and so I bought it instead of the florescent red Spiderman cake he kept pointing to at the bakery counter yesterday

Good mama: Let Hudson open his Birthday present first thing this morning (cute puzzle that you match the mama animal with it's baby)
Bad mama: Got frusterated when he didn't want to put it together

Good mama: Got up with Hudson at 5:15am (!) this morning
Bad mama: Tempted to drug him with some Baby Benadryl to make him sleepy again

Good mama: Hug and kiss Hudson all the time
Bad mama: Force him to hug and kiss me back

Happy 2nd Birthday Hudson!!!
I love you with all my heart.

A post about nothing really...

Yes that's Bosco sitting on a stool...trying his hardest not to just jump on Hudson and steal the coveted Goldfish crackers

Having a moment with Bert
