Hoochie-Mama Mama-to-be?!?
I had a funny conversation with one of the regular clients of my branch yesterday. I have to start by saying that I got dressed in the morning knowing that a bunch of us were going out after work for some dinner and drinks. So I dressed a little more "hoochie-mama" than I normally would for work. I was wearing a pair of black gaucho pants and a tight, deep v-neck (I have been showing off my newly enlarged chest), stretchy tshirt with my high wedge sandals, and a big, chunky necklace. I am a fan of form-fitting clothes. It makes my baby bump more noticable and I think baby bumps are cute as hell. Anyway, my client is in her 50's or so, and was obviously staring at my midsection. She then said to me "You should start wearing maternity clothes". So I answered "I am wearing maternity clothes". So then she said "I mean, you should start wearing clothes that are comfortable", to which I again answered "This IS comfortable" (and it really was!). I think my tight hugging clothes that accentuated my buddha belly make her uncomfortable! It made me laugh. I am proud to say I have not ONE piece of frumpy maternity clothing, nor have I had to give up my sexy shoes...yet. But then reality set in later in the night, when at 7:30pm, after eating yummy pub food of chicken wings and nachos, I felt exhausted. I got up to leave and got the "Joyce, you're so boring now!" speeches. Yes it's true. All I could think of was getting home and taking off my bra and changing into PJ's and vegging in front of the TV. Boring, hoochie-mama, mama-to-be...that's me.

Joyce you are too funny. You had to add in that you wanted to take off your bra?!!!!! Too funny. Well you do look good in form fitted maternity wear, so keep it up. Call me tomorrow.
I love that story. I had a bunch of "comfy" maternity clothes, but I loved the form fitting ones the best, for the same reason to show off my Jaia belly. I love that that lady told you to get comfy clothes. Hehe!
I also agree with the whole getting home and removing the bra idea, but now that just isn't an option, well unless I feel like flooding Summerland, haha!
Have a relaxed weekend.!!
I'm ALL ABOUT the form fitting clothes - looks way better than wearing a mumu :)
And I'm also all about wearing the comfy clothes at home too - pregnant or not :)
Yay for Hoochie-Mama clothing!
Yay for Hoochie-Mama underclothing... that I wished so much for when I was in your situation and others just looked at me crazy...
There's nothing wrong with looking like a Hoochie Mama. Just because you're pregnant doesn't mean you have to supress your personality and be all conservative. If you feel fabulous and look fabulous...what's the problem? Keep the shock factor going strong girl!
The lady was just jealous that maternaty clothing has come so far. In her time the option was the orange or floral moo-moo. I personally would have gone with the floral moo-moo, one that would match the 1970's curtains and orange counter tops. And Joyce, after all what is life without the wedge sandals.....if they are good enough for playing bachi ball, they are good enough for maternity wear and work.

GLEN!!! did i wear them to play bachi ball??? sounds kinda silly, but no i'm not denying it...i did wear a pair to play golf once...only to find out you're not allowed to...and i had to change into a pair of my sister's running shoes!
