To my funny funny friend...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIKO!!!
I wish I were there to celebrate it with you. I'm not kidding when I say that you are one of my favorite people in the entire world! I really miss having you be a part of my everyday life...I got used to seeing you practically every single day for 6 years!! It's not everyday you find someone who makes you pee your pants laughing, or brings a beautifully gift-wrapped gift for your dog, or looks into flying 3000 miles to see you because she thinks you need a friend (even if you didn't actually come to Ottawa - the fact that you thought about it means a lot)! I know you're not the sappy, gushy-emotional type...so I'll just say that I love you unconditionally, and hope you have a great day filled with lots of yummy cake!!

So far on our holidays...
We went shopping for some new furniture!!! I blame my angel Bosco for the new purchase...let me start by saying that he has NEVER destroyed anything in our house EVER! Even when he was a puppy he never chewed anything but his toys. However...a little while ago our sofa cushion got a tiny tear in the fabric. Instead of sewing it when it was still small, I left it...and the tear got bigger and bigger. Anyway, Bosco discovered that there was fluff and foam inside the tear, and thought it would be fun to rip it out. He often does this with his stuffed animals once they get ripped. So to make a long story short, he had fun shredding parts of our couch open. I should secretly thank him...I was getting tired of the old "denim" look sofa we have...and MUCH prefer the sexy chocolate brown leather set we're getting! A little anti-climatic though, it's not getting delivered until May!

and as a result can keep myself quite entertained with my own nasty thoughts!!! This morning I was on the bus going to work, standing up with my purse over my shoulder, my lunch bag in one hand, my coffee in the other hand, while trying to hold on the bar so I didn't go flying everytime the bus stopped or started. When I did manage to grab a seat, I happened to be sitting directly across from 3 people who kept me entertained the rest of the way to work. The first lady was quite large and at first I thought she was naked from the waist down! Seriously I did a double take, and realized that she was wearing a skirt that must have hiked up when she sat down, and as a result I saw her fat, pastey-white thigh all the way up to her control top panty hose. The lady next to her had attempted to put her cough-drops back in her jacket pocket, but instead actually put them in a "fold" where the fabric of her jacket had just bunched up a little bit. Then the third guy had nasty white stains all over the crotch of his black dress pants. I sat there observing how oblivious they were and started imagining me standing up and annoucing "You lady, I can see your junk, and you lady, your Halls are nowhere near your actual pocket, and you nasty guy, I don't even want to know what's on your pants". But instead I just sat there, thinking..."I will write about this in my blog tonight". I wonder if someone silently watched me fall asleep on the bus last week, and giggled as I slept right past my bus stop...???

I never never never thought I'd like indian food...
Remember all the times in Vancouver when I made us eat somewhere else, even when you guys (Jan, Glen, and Akiko) would want Indian?!? Well something happened when I moved to Ottawa...not only do I like it, I actually make it at home! Well, by "making" it, I mean I pour store-bought sauce over top of my chicken! Anyway, Rob and I have discovered that the President's Choice line of Indian sauces is really yummy (restaurant-style-yummy)...so far the Indian Madras is my favorite. Try it! But my house is smelly even now (4 hours later)...

I'm sad to say the weekend is over. I LOVE not having to go to work, bad eh? Anyway, my weekend involved a visit to Starbucks for their new Cinnamon Dolce Latte (so yummy) and window shopping at Ikea (my two favorite pass-times)...AND...a call from Dina who I haven't spoken to in over three years!! It was so fun getting caught up with an old friend. And holy moly, a lot can happen in 3 years...a wedding, babies, house-buying, career changes, a little gossip...my ear was hot from talking on the phone for so long. Afterward, after running a few errands, Rob, Bosco and I went for a spontaneous trip to the "country" (Rob's idea since it was a beautiful sunny day here in Ottawa). We drove to the quaint little town of Merrickville, and got out of the car just long enough to take a short walk with Bosco (it was sunny but COLD and we didn't dress for it since we didn't know we were going to be outside). Anyway, on the way back home, Rob took a detour down a side road that caught his attention...and the houses were beautiful...totally Joyce-style...pointy roofs, wrap-around porches, tons of windows...and the name of the road was "Memory Lane"...I LOVE THAT STREET NAME...sounds so happy...
All in all a good relaxing weekend...and Audrey I did think of you often even if I didn't talk to you. Hope you aren't too stressed. Good night everyone!
