never ass-u-me...

never assume, because you make an "ass out of u and me"...
hardy har har.
but seriously...
when i decided to take a last minute trip to come and see my sister, I worried like crazy about taking Hudson on a plane all by myself. Would he cry? Would he freak out? What would I do with him, if I had to pee? Would the other passengers hate us? etc. etc. I NEVER worried about how he would be once we got to my sisters.

however...

the flight (layover and all) were perfect.
Hudson cried softly for maybe 2 minutes near the end of our flight. He slept for a little bit, and the rest of the time he watched his Barney and Sesame Street DVD's and snuggled me. He even got a compliment from a lady across the aisle about how "good" he was.

and...

his behavior here at my sisters house???

awful.
awful awful.

he's the crankiest he's ever been. he's the clingiest he's ever been. I've hit him in the head with the fridge door twice because of him being my "shadow". He's cried his eyes out because, heaven forbid, someone else was looking at his (really the girl's) fish tank. That fish tank is for Hudson's eyes only, okay? And that toy he was playing with 8 hours ago...that is also for Hudson only, okay? He's like a whole other kid. A miserable one.

What's up with that? Audrey mentioned that maybe he's missing his papa, and doesn't know how to express his feelings about it. If that IS the reason, it breaks my heart. One week down...23 more to go.

Uh...Joyce...those pine cones belong in the bowl on the table...and those magnetic letters belong on the magnetic board not in Hudson's pocket. And we still love Hudson even though he is pretty fussy. Poor mama Joyce, never gets a break.

You forgot to mention that he is very happy and calm when he is eating, eating, eating.

Ok Joyce, you have to leave Hudson with me for a week and we will totally toughen him up; he will no longer be a MAMA`s BOY!!!

I know Audrey always threatens to duct tape kids when they're misbehaving, so maybe that's why he's your shadow. Have you seen any evidence of that? It won't be typical grey as she likes to use bright, cheerful colours. I'd be on the lookout if I were you.

Sorry you're having such a tough time with Hudson. He's probably just reacting to all the changes (new place, daddy gone and 3 hour time difference) the only way he knows how. Which is hanging close to mommy since you're his constant. Give him a little more time and I'm sure he'll feel more comfortable.

It breaks my heart too. And to Susan; He's not a Mama's Boy! He misses his Dad, and that's not funny! Joyce right now your his everything so please be patient even though I know it's hard. Your the best Mama a boy could have! I love you both and miss you sooo much!
Rob.

Mostly I come here to read Rob's comments to you, so sweet!
I agree with Audrey and the fact that you guys are in a new place, a new bed, new people, and NO snow! Poor dude!
Hudson's smart, if he can't tell you verbally, he'll tell you in another way. It's touhg to be Mama to a boy who is clingy clingy clingy, believe me I know!
All the very best in your next 23 weeks!

Hmm..I knew there was a darker side to Audrey...duct tape indeed..

Have the girls warmed up Hudson yet? That always helps. But you know, like everyone else says, at that age they're pretty clingy and stuck to mom when things are unfamiliar. Doesn't matter if daddy is there or not (sorry Rob!) but it's always mom they cling to.

Hang in there, he's gonna un-freeze soon. lol.

Are you really there for 23 weeks??!
